Retirement delay

[2023-09-13]

The second plenary session of the 18th Central Committee decided to put forward: “Study and formulate a gradual retirement age policy”, that is, the retirement policy. In its 14th five-year plan, the ministry said it would gradually raise the statutory retirement age by 2025.
On February 21,2022, the State Council issued the circular on the publication of the 14th five-year plan for the national development of the cause of aging and the plan for the elderly service system, mention was again made of the gradual extension of the statutory retirement age.
Starting in 2022, a small-scale pilot program was launched in Shandong and Jiangsu provinces. For example, Shandong province has put in place a moratorium on retirement for professionals with deputy senior titles and above, allowing them to apply for a 1-3-year moratorium. So far, 107 people have applied. Jiangsu is a voluntary application model, the starting price is delayed 1 year.
To sum up, our country's decision to delay retirement is also due to the severity of the country's population ageing. If we retire too early, it will slow down the Chinese economy, so the plan to delay the retirement age has been put on the agenda in 2018, it is expected to be extended every three years for women after 2018, compared with every five years for men, in an effort to equalize the retirement age for men and women in decades to come.
